Join us at Connection Dance Work’s “Perspective,” an evening of work-in-progress dance performances, to see an excerpt from Fauna! Created by SCP Associate Artist Sydney Hallett, Fauna is an environmentalist dance/theatre piece that brings climate change out of the abstract and situates us in the here and now. The show follows The Deer, The Piping Plover and The Lynx as they navigate floods, drought, fire, and industry. All the while, the clownish Seal bobs in and out, acting as both narrator and soothsayer.
These characters, brought to life by hand-crafted animal masks made from natural fibres and willow, endure the environmental trials these species are currently facing, as well as an imagined future. Fauna gives voice to our local wildlife and exists as an emotionally evocative piece of theatre that inspires empathy and environmental action.
