BIG GAY CABARET - CALL FOR ARTISTS
The biggest, loudest and proudest party of the year is back! Solo Chicken Productions, in partnership with the Charlotte Street Arts Centre, are hosting another Big Gay Cabaret, an evening of queer joy and resistance in order to raise funds to support 2SLGBTQIA+ rights in New Brunswick! We are seeking applications from 2SLGBTQIA+ artists to perform in next year’s Cabaret! Performances of any kind are welcome, including theatre, dance, drag, comedy, poetry, music, and more! This year’s Cabaret theme is “PAST & FUTURE.” Applicants are encouraged to pay homage to queer history, imagine the future of queerness, or bring retro or futuristic aesthetics to their performance!

Cabaret Date: February 21 2025
Volunteer: Please note that all performers will be volunteering their time to participate in the cabaret! To thank the artists for their time and support the cost of materials, each artist will receive a $150 honorarium.
Donations: In order to keep the Big Gay Cabaret sustainable, we will now be donating HALF of the event’s ticket sales to a queer-focused organization. The other 50% will be used to pay expenses related to the Cabaret, as well as give honorariums to our artists.
Selection: Based on the applicants received, artists will be selected by the Big Gay Cabaret Organizing Committee, composed of local 2SLGBTQIA+ artists!
Age Restriction: This is an event for adults. Artists must be 19 years or older.
Location: The Big Gay Cabaret will take place in Fredericton, New Brunswick. While we are happy to receive applications from artists outside of Fredericton, artist from out of town will be in charge of their own travel and lodging if they are selected and wish to participate!
Accessibility: We do our best to create accessible spaces for our performers and audience members. The performance venue is accessible to those who use mobility aids, such as wheel chairs and walkers. If you have any questions concerning the accessibly of the performance, please reach out!
