Lisa Anne Ross - Project Director/Lead Artist

Lisa Anne Ross, the Artistic Producer of Solo Chicken Productions, is a Fredericton based director, creator and community arts practitioner who has studied theatre at Dalhousie University, The Dell’Arte International School of Physical Theatre in Blue Lake, California and at York University, where received her Master’s in theatre as a tool for social change.  Lisa Anne teaches and directs at St. Thomas University and alongside Lesandra Dodson, is the Co-Artistic Director of the coop, which is a new initiative launched by Solo Chicken that aims to create opportunities for both professional and emerging New Brunswick artists.  Working on The Bridge Project has been a wonderful opportunity to connect with artists and community members across the city and participate in bringing a vibrant, diverse perspective of our history to life.

Natalie Sappier - Lead Artist

Natalie Sappier-Samaqani Cocahq is a Wolastoqiyik Indigenous multidisciplinary artist is from Tobique First Nation. She is known for her contemporary symbolic motif storytelling through painting and designs. She is alumni of the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design and has her artwork in private collections Nationally and Internationally and numerous public works in New Brunswick such as the University of New Brunswick, Libraries, Clinics and First Nation community buildings. Currently, Samaqani has been exploring with sharing stories through performance arts because she feels that her stories need to be louder then her painting can speak.  spirit has been centered around the development of her first play “Finding Wolastoq Voice” which is part of Theatre New Brunswick’s 2017-2018 touring season.  The one person show is a theatre dance hybrid which includes a full body of music created by the artist. Finding Wolastoq Voice will be the first Wolastoqiyik story from a First Nation playwright of New Brunswick that will be touring and presented on New Brunswick’s stages.  Samaqani is currently working on new performance works for the upcoming years in her studio in Fredericton.

Ryan Griffith - Lead Artist

Ryan Griffith grew up along the banks of the Saint John River near Woodstock, New Brunswick. A graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada, his play LUTZ was produced by the NotaBle Acts Theatre Festival and published by Playwrights Canada Press in 2011.  His short play SHEPODY, RAGE AND WOLFE was featured as part of the National Elevator Project Plays produced by Theatre Yes in both Edmonton and Halifax.  His original play RETURNING FIRE and his adaptation of Alistair MacLeod’s THE BOAT have been recently received productions by Theatre New Brunswick and his epic play, FORTUNE OF WOLVES is being produced this October as part of their 2017-2018 season.  Ryan is currently serving as the Artistic Director for the Next Folding Theatre Company in Fredericton, NB.   

 

Dee Chiasson - Stage Manager/Facilitator

Dee Chiasson is a 2nd year Master of Fine Arts student in Creative Management and Producing program with a focus in Stage Management at California Institute of the Arts in Santa Clarita, California.  A recent alum from St Thomas University (2016) and originally from the Miramichi, Dee is glad to be back in the province for the summer not only to get away from “big city life”, but to work with some of her favourite locals she’s worked with in the past during her time at STU.  Some of her recent credits include Peer/Gynt, Salome (CalArts School of Theatre), Shipwrecked!, Souvenir(St Andrews Summer Theatre),Bacchae, and Trudeau and the FLQ (TST).  She is excited to be a part of this project that represents her home so well and hopes that you enjoy the experience as well!

 

Alex Rioux - Media Coordinator/Facilitator

Alex Rioux is an emerging theatre artist from Fredericton New Brunswick. Rioux is a recent graduate of St. Thomas University with a major in English with a concentration in Drama, and a minor in History. During his time at St. Thomas he participated in several shows with Theatre St. Thomas, and was the acting president for the 2016-17 season. Other training includes his years spent with Theatre New Brunswick's Intermediate and Senior Musical Theatre programs. Currently Alex is training with Solo Chicken Productions' new Coop CORPS to develop his physical theatre skills. You can also catch Alex performing improv with the Hot Garbage Players at the Capital Complex.
