HISTORY OF SOLO CHICKEN
Solo Chicken Productions, was formed in March of 2004 by current Artistic Producer, Lisa Anne Ross, charged with a mandate to create and support the creation of new works of physical theatre, engage in community collaborations and to develop innovative educational programs. The company created a number of physical theatre works, initiated the collaborative Nunavik Theatre Arts program in Inukjuak, Nunavik and ran the Eastdale Theatre Program in Toronto. In 2009, Lisa Anne Ross relocated from Toronto to Fredericton where the company is now permanently based.
Solo Chicken Productions has flourished in New Brunswick where it inhabits a unique space in Fredericton and New Brunswick’s arts ecology as one of a handful of professional Anglophone theatre companies in the region. In addition to bringing expertise on community arts and arts education to the region Solo Chicken has aimed to provide professional and emerging artists with economic and artistic opportunities.
2015 in response to a growing need in New Brunswick to support the growth of both emerging and professional artists, Solo Chicken Productions launched a new initiative, the coop, that aims to create professional works with touring potential that utilizes the growing wealth of New Brunswick based artists.
Solo Chicken is a registered charity to boot.
